How to Make Your Dreams Come True

STEP 1  Make a list of your dreams or goals that you’ve put on the back burner.

STEP 2  Choose ONE (and only one) goal, passion, or dream to pursue.

STEP 3  Ask yourself: “Is this goal the one that is most important to me, or is it what I think I should be doing?” Choose the one that you’re most passionate about.

STEP 4  Next, ask yourself: “What is the reason I give myself, over and over, that keeps me from acting on this goal?”

STEP 5  Now, turn your self-talk into a strategy to act on your goal, instead of postponing it. For example, if you say to yourself, “I don’t have enough money to start a new business,” turn that into “I’m going to set up a fund for my dream and start investing at least $50 every month” or “I’m going to give up lattes and apply the $20 weekly to my dream fund.”

STEP 6  As you discover other obstacles, redo Steps 4–5.

Action primes the pump for more action. A vital key is to transform any obstacle in your mind (“I don’t have the money”) into a part of your strategy to fulfill your dream (“I can use my dream to earn money!”). This shift in thinking quiets the fear and mind chatter and prevents the wasted energy of an internal battle. Then you can use that energy to fulfill your dreams!
